He is a snowman that doesn’t melt
He is not cold, that I have felt Because he is a snowman that doesn’t melt He has a hat, but not a belt For he is a snowman that doesn’t melt He is made of plaster, not of felt Hail the snowman that doesn’t melt

It was getting grim I got out the mower Thinking it needed a trim But now we can move slower All acted like adults, even him I think I am not alone in finding 2016 an unusually unpleasant election season. Tomorrow it ends, Lord willing, and I will not miss it. Despite its drag on my good spirits, it did inspire me to write a number of poems, Starting with this:

Haikus are delightful for bad poetry. Traditionally just 17 syllables long, they allow you to get right to the poem, while being short enough to keep the poet from going too far off into the weeds. Haikus are easy. As long as the poet is willing to dispense with most traditional restrictions beyond length (this is bad poetry after all), they can quickly and cheerfully create haiku on nearly any subject.
Writing a good haiku is of course another matter. Which shredder to buy
It must destroy my junk mail Chop it to small bits |
